That’s the key ingredient in all of our blends here at Z&B. Though we have a diverse offering and some never-seen-before seasoning blends, we never stray from the idea that what we make must be accessible to all.
That means if there’s an unfamiliar ingredient, we’ll take the time to talk about it. If someone has a question, we’ll answer it. But above all that, it means that our blends can be enjoyed by anyone of any skill level, novice or old pro.
We test these blends ourselves, in dishes fancy and simple. Our favorite test material is popcorn! It’s a wonderful flavor carrier, and there’s not one bit of fussiness about it! Pop and shake—if you can do that, you can use almost all that we offer! (May we suggest you start with Umami?)
Make no mistake, we do eat fancy now and then. We’ll finely dice mushrooms, shallots, and onions so we can make duxelles, which we then use in a classic French sauce. We’ll take the time to make a dark roux, which we’ll use for a soup base. But most meals are based on simplicity: roast a sweet potato, slice it open, and shake some Garam Masala over it. Or cook some lentils and toss them with Za’atar and a nice olive oil. Or instead of making a classic French or Creole sauce, just sauté some onions with Espresso & Peppercorn Rub and enjoy a gravy like you’ve never had!
